Burgan Bank Extends Paternity Leave to Five Days for All Staff

Setting a benchmark for the longest paternity leave offered in any domestic banking institution

In an effort to create and maintain a comfortable, supportive working environment for all employees, Burgan Bank announced it is adjusting its paternity leave to now span five working days. This comes as part of the Bank’s strategy for reinforcing its positive work environment and ensuring it caters to employees’ needs, who are considered the Bank’s most valuable asset and indispensable resource.

The latest expansion to its internal benefit structure stems from the Bank’s understanding of employees’ personal, familial and social needs. As a core part of its human resources strategy, Burgan Bank spares no effort when it comes to enabling its staff to strike a healthy work-life balance. Such moderation ultimately leads to better physical and mental health for all employees, which in turn impacts their productivity and efficiency at the workplace.

On this occasion, Mrs. Halah El-Sherbini, Group Chief Human Resources and Development Officer at Burgan Bank, stated: “We completely understand that an employee’s personal life inevitably affects their job performance. That’s why we continue to do all that is in our power to contribute to our employees’ overall comfort and satisfaction, which translates to higher productivity and dedication at the workplace. With special leaves, such as paternity leave, we strive to nurture our employees’ social needs, helping them balance between work and family requirements without compromise.”

El-Sherbini further added: “Many studies have shown that paternity leaves have a positive impact on employees’ mental health, whereby fathers have the safe space to practice their roles as fathers and husbands in a stress-free environment, away from any work-induced distractions or pressure. Furthermore, paternity leave is also crucial for the nursing mothers who require assistance in their day-to-day life and that of their newborn, and to whom we extend our support. And so, we continue to place our employees’ needs – whether personal or professional – and their wellbeing at the top of our priorities.”

It serves to note that the Human Resources Department at Burgan Bank is adamant about constantly enhancing the institution’s work environment through offering special services and other means of comfort to all staff. These efforts aim to guarantee high levels of satisfaction and overall happiness among staff, enabling them to excel in their career paths and personal lives simultaneously.
