Lebanon Launches Biometric Fingerprint Service in Kuwait for the First Time

Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities Ahmad Al-Hajjar officially launched the biometric fingerprint service at the Lebanese Embassy in Kuwait, marking the first time the service has been introduced outside Lebanon to facilitate the issuance of biometric passports.

The launch took place in the presence of Director General of General Security Major General Hassan Choucair, Lebanese Ambassador to Kuwait Ghadi Khoury, Director General of the Internal Security Forces Major General Raed Abdallah, Acting Director General of Personal Status Rodina Mourab, Deputy Head of Mission and Consul Mia El Azm, and members of the embassy staff.

Al-Hajjar described the initiative as an important milestone in modernizing Lebanon's public administration and improving services for Lebanese expatriates. He noted that the project was launched in response to requests from the Lebanese diaspora, which he heard firsthand during his meetings with Lebanese communities abroad.

He explained that the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities instructed the General Directorate of General Security, in coordination with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants and Finance, to prepare and implement the project.

The new service will allow Lebanese citizens residing abroad to complete the biometric fingerprint process in their country of residence and have their data sent electronically to Lebanon for the issuance of biometric passports, eliminating the need to travel to Lebanon in person.
