Kuwait was ranked number one in the Gulf and 14th globally among the first 20 countries that excelled in international humanitarian activities in 2013 by presenting $327 million in donations, according to the British International Center for Development Initiatives specialized in alleviating poverty and promoting humanitarian aid, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.

The US occupied the first place with $4.6 billion in donations, followed by Britain which donated $1.8 billion.

Turkey came third with $1.6 billion, followed by Japan with $1.1 billion, and then Germany with $949 million, while Saudi Arabia occupied second place in the Gulf with donations worth $109 million. As for the countries that received donations and financial support from Kuwait, Jordan came first, as it received $81million- equivalent to 25 percent of the global humanitarian support in 2013.

Lebanon was ranked second for receiving $79 million in donations representing 24 percent of international humanitarian support, and Syria came third with $75 million in financial assistance from Kuwait which amounted to 23 percent of the entire international humanitarian aid Kuwait offered.
