Burgan Bank Launches its First Ever Padel Tournament

Burgan Bank announced the launch of the inaugural Burgan Bank Padel Tournament, a large professional-scale tournament open to the public. This event marks a major milestone in the Bank’s sports-focused component of social responsibility strategy – as the Bank continues to seek to champion and foster a stronger sports culture in Kuwait.

The tournament is set to take place at El Padel Academy, situated at a prime location on Arabian Gulf Street, which comprises more than 22 fully-equipped open courts - all designed in adherence to the highest industry standards and complemented with a comprehensive range of facilities that fulfill the athletes’ needs. The padel tournament is designed to be a social event to be enjoyed by the entire family – a vision that’s made possible thanks to El Padel Academy’s top-notch facilities and layout.

The three-day tournament is scheduled to take place on November 3rd, 4th, and 5th 2022, with competitions spanning seven categories for both pros and amateurs, men and women, with age groups ranging between under 16 and 50+. A total of 352 competitors are expected to take place in the tournament, 28 of whom are set to receive valuable cash prizes, with many more to receive trophies and medals.

Commenting on the tournament, Ms. Kholoud AlFeeli, Group Head – Corporate Communications, said: “Sports has long-been a cornerstone of our social responsibility program and something we passionately believe in at Burgan Bank. With this tournament, we are taking our commitment to fostering the sports culture in Kuwait a step further – serving up a professional, exciting and family-inclusive event that builds on the tremendous momentum we are seeing for the sport of padel.”

She further added: “It is important for us as a community to invest in sports and make it a staple of our everyday lives – and the recent popularity of padel is a prime opportunity for us to be able to do so. We intend to turn this tournament into a lively, interactive social event like none before. We encourage all padel players – both professional and amateur – to sign up. It’s going to be a great event.”

It serves to note that Burgan Bank has opened online registration for the tournament to all interested athletes across competition categories until October 25.
