What is that green sauce served in Indian restaurants?

Every time we visit an Indian restaurant, they serve us some types of food especially the appetizers we order with a green sauce and we always wondered what this green sauce is.

So we searched for the name of this green sauce and found out that it is called Green Mint and Coriander Chutney and it is an Indian Mint and Cilantro sauce.

The Green Chutney ingredients include Cilantro leaves, fresh mint leaves, onion, garlic, ginger, peppers, lemon juice, water, cumin seeds, salt and fresh grated coconut.

And based on what we read, it can be used in many ways but is used best as a condiment with grilled or fried food, but may be used as spread or dip too.

As for the taste, it is kind of weird especially if you don't usually eat Indian food a lot but when you try the chutney more than once with appetizers and fried Indian food, you may start to enjoy it.

The photos below show how this green sauce is served with Indian dishes and the dishes below are Vegetable Samosa and Chingri Chaap Fried shrimps and they are both Indian appetizers.
