For the eight consecutive year

Burgan Bank is continuing its support of professional Kuwaiti athletes, once again renewing its sponsorship of World Wheelchair Fencing Champion Tareq AlQallaf. Now in its eight year, the Bank’s support of AlQallaf comes as part of its efforts to elevate the sports sector in Kuwait and help Kuwaiti athletes compete across all arenas.

Throughout his career, AlQallaf has won many titles on the local and international levels, garnering almost 380 medals to date, as well as the 'sword of honor' award as the world's best player and the gold medal as World Champion of the sport. He has become an icon of the sport and a role model for Kuwaiti athletes who have been able to overcome disabilities to achieve great success in their fields.

With the support from Burgan Bank throughout the 2022 season, AlQallaf is set to compete in several notable global championships and training camps. These include: the San Jose, California Championship, the Pennsylvania Championship, and the Richmond Championship. He will also be taking part in the ‘Kuwait Challenge’, which will be held in December 2022.

From his side, Tareq AlQallaf said: “Kuwait’s accomplishments in the sport of wheelchair fencing continue, on the heels of my participation in tournaments in the United States, supported by Burgan Bank. For eight years now, Burgan has continued to offer its complete support to me, and they have also been a major source of support for Kuwaiti athletes of all types over the past few years. I would personally like to express my gratitude to the Bank for offering Kuwaiti athletes this opportunity and embracing us this in this expansive way, with the aim of elevating the state of the sports sector in Kuwait.”
