 Baklava

Baklava is an oriental sweet pastry made with layers of phyllo dough filled with chopped nuts like pistachio and sweetened with sugar syrup or honey.

It is a traditional dessert in the Middle East and Mediterranean cuisines and it is also very popular in Turkey.

The nuts used in baklava can vary, but pistachios and walnuts are common choices that are used the most to prepare this dessert.

The phyllo dough is layered with the nuts and then baked until golden brown.

After it is baked and ready, the baklava is soaked or totally covered with sugar syrup made up of sugar, water, and sometimes lemon juice or honey.

When the baklava cools down and absorbs the syrup, it becomes moist and flavorful.
